Team Building

Perhaps the most important element of any project was the group activity that took place to meet the physical and mental challenges of a full schedule in an outdoor environment. After the first day of orientation activities, student teams were chosen and remained intact for the duration of the project. Ownership in the team was realized as students did the planning necessary to complete their schedule of activities. In the evenings, all students who were “in camp” participated in a group/planning session to debrief, plan and review schedules. Teams that were “out” did the same based on their own schedules. Staff members participated as facilitators in all group sessions. They kept students aware of schedules and helped guide the planning process. They outlined choices for group decisions.
